Make sure you're all caught up on my Lancaster City Breakfast Tour. I've written about all these awesome places: On Orange, The Baker's Table, Rachel's Cafe & Creperie, ForkNSpoon Cafe, Commonwealth on Queen, & Aussie And The Fox.
This post is about Stop #7, which was Cafe One Eight, located on Orange St. in Lancaster City. This place is always hopping. It's a popular breakfast spot on Saturday mornings, it's a great place to grab a cup of coffee with a friend, it's also a fun place to study & read. They have only been open 2+ years, but they already have a well-established business. We brought some out of town friends with us on this tour stop and they had nothing but positive things to say about Cafe One Eight.
What We Ate: Fruit & Yogurt Parfaits, Breakfast Burritos (Santa Fe, Lancaster, & Monterrey), Coffee & Build-Your-Own Breakfast Sandwich.
What Brought Me Joy: I'm all about their Lancaster County Dutch heritage. I may be from NJ, but I am a Stoltzfoos (and in the Fisher book) so I've got to give a shout-out to the Pennsylvania Dutch!
Super friendly. The workers behind the counter are consistently personable and pleasant.
They are a loyal & active part of the downtown community. They are open late on First Fridays and they often have bands & live performances. Their community board is chock-full of things going on in the area.
What Should You Order: YOGURT PARFAIT!!! Best I've had in all of Lancaster! Their secret? They do layers of delicious baked oatmeal instead of granola. So so yummy. When they ask if you want the blueberry baked oatmeal, be sure to say YES. It's a large portion, but trust me, you will eat the whole thing.
Do their Build-Your-Own Breakfast Sandwich so you can get exactly what you want.
Always check out their chalkboard wall to see what the specials are. Months ago I was in there for breakfast and got the most delicious Fruit & Nutella Croissant! I hope they bring it back SOON!

Obligatory Pic Of My Son: The little guy was with Grandma & Grandpa this weekend, so he didn't make it to breakfast. But he was having his own fun, of course.

Oops. Forgot to get a "Before" Pic of the parfait. It was so good I couldn't pause to take a picture. But they do have an awesome picture on their web site, so check it out. |

He's eating banana out of a Fresh Food Feeder. Those things are awesome! You should get one! |
Here is my disclaimer that I've put on all of my posts: I want My Lancaster City Breakfast Tour to be an informative & fun experience for those who read about it. My hope is, that based on one of my recommendations, you will be enticed to go to one (or all) of these spots and enjoy them for yourselves. For the record, I will only be focusing on the positive parts of each restaurant/cafe that I go to. So if I had bad service or a meal that I didn't enjoy, I will choose to omit that from my review. Keep that in mind as you're reading. I'm not some 5 star critic or restaurant connoisseur, just a hungry patron, so I'm going to keep my experiences simple and up-beat. I hope you have been enjoying this tour, so far!
